The watermelon: Take a good bite at life and healthy food at the same time!
Over the years, studies and articles have grown exponentially, which showed the excellent qualities of the watermelon. Here’s a quick reminder of all the benefits of this fruit champion bursting with lycopene, vitamin C, vitamin B6, beta carotene and amino acids!
Staying healthy: lycopene is the reason why the fruit is red, and plays an essential part in keeping your heart and bones healthy, and preventing prostate cancer. It’s also a powerful antioxidant, with anti-inflammatory properties.
Post-effort recovery: thanks to citrulline which accelerates the elimination of lactic acid accumulating in the muscles during effort, and to the potassium it contains, the watermelon is an excellent catalyst for recovery. Coupled with electrolytes, it will help optimise your post-effort recovery.
Hydration and fighting hyperthermia: during the summer, it’s hard to stay well hydrated and resist the heat. With its 92% water and good amount of fibres and antioxidants, the watermelon is a powerful ally in high temperatures!
Sex drive and heart health: citrulline helps assimilate arginine, which is known for relaxing blood vessels… like Viagra! For your heart and blood pressure, the beta carotene (provitamin A), vitamin C, potassium and fibres the watermelon contains are powerful assets.
Mental health too: vitamin B6 is known for its positive effects on the brain, by reducing stress and anxiety symptoms.
